Patient Case Study - Overview
This client came to Ahead Ink Scalp Micropigmentation after undergoing multiple hair transplant surgeries using both FUT (strip surgery) and Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE).
Unfortunately, instead of getting the result he had hoped for, he was left with two major problems: obvious hair transplant scars throughout his donor area and disappointing density on the top of his scalp.
The FUT procedure left a prominent linear scar across the back of his scalp, while the FUE procedures created numerous visible extraction scars throughout the donor region. Wearing his hair short only made the scarring more noticeable.
Rather than attempting to correct everything at once, we developed a strategic treatment plan beginning with what bothered him most: the scars.
SMP Scar Camouflage Procedure Details
Using specialized Scalp Micropigmentation scar camouflage, we carefully placed impressions throughout the scar tissue and surrounding donor area to reduce the contrast between the lighter scars and his natural hair follicles.
Scar camouflage requires considerably more than simply putting pigment into a scar. Scar tissue can respond differently than normal scalp tissue, making proper pigment selection, impression size, spacing, depth, and overall blending extremely important.
Our objective was simple: make the scars stop being the first thing you notice.
The result is a dramatically more uniform-looking donor area that allows the client to wear his hair shorter without the obvious FUT and FUE scars immediately drawing attention.
Although his transplant surgeries moved thousands of follicles, the client was still left with inadequate visual density across the top of his scalp. That will be phase two.
He plans to return to Ahead Ink for SMP density treatment, where we will strategically place microscopic impressions between his existing transplanted and native hairs. By reducing the contrast between the scalp and hair, SMP can create the visual appearance of significantly greater density without another hair transplant surgery.
